'Oilympics' is our latest collaboration with Greenpeace, and a continuation of the work we started with TotalPollution by highlighting how major sporting moments are being used to greenwash environmental destruction.
Eni, one of the world’s biggest oil and gas corporations, is using the Winter Olympics & Paralympics to greenwash its fossil-fuelled destruction.
Eni’s annual fossil fuel emissions could melt enough glacier ice to fill 2.5 million Olympic swimming pools. Meanwhile, more than half of the potential host cities for Winter Games will become "climate-unreliable" by the 2080s due to the climate crisis.
Through this film, Greenpeace is calling for the International Olympic Committee to drop all oil and gas sponsorship.
Winter sport needs snow, not fossil fuels.
