ABOUT THE PROJECT

Oilympics calls out how giant fossil fuel corporation Eni is using the Winter Olympics & Paralympics to greenwash its climate destruction.

This animated film for Greenpeace is calling for the International Olympic Committee to drop all oil and gas sponsorship. Winter sport needs snow, not fossil fuels.

Oily Sponsors

Eni’s annual fossil fuel emissions could melt enough glacier ice to fill 2.5 million Olympic swimming pools. Meanwhile, more than half of the potential host cities for Winter Games will become "climate-unreliable" by the 2080s due to the climate crisis.

It's clear: One cannot sponsor the winter games while at the same time fuel its collapse. This isn’t sponsorship, it’s sportswashing.

Act to Demand Polluters Pay
"We wish for the Winter Olympics what we wish for our planet: cold winters, real snow and ice, keeping our Planet cool and the Winter Games alive. Fossil fuel companies like Eni, an official sponsor of the 2026 Winter Olympics, are actively ruining that future for all of us."

Screen to Streets

Following the release of the film, Greenpeace Italy held protests and a demonstration in front of the Piazza Duomo, Milan, installing our oil-dripping Olympic Rings in real life.

The campaign sparked international coverage and pressured both Eni and the International Olympic Committee to respond.

More than 70k people have signed Greenpeace’s petition, which has been delivered to the International Olympic Committee.

Human-Made

The world of snow and fossil fuel explosions you see in Oilympics was brought to life by the craft of VFX Director Tim Smit and his team at Redivider Studio.
