We created a satirical news interview video where we see 'Giles LeBoeuf' attempt to defend Big Agriculture as part of Greenpeace's Respect the Amazon campaign.
Directed by Jake Whiteley and Joe Wills', the video exposes industrial agriculture's false promises through a cringe-worthy interview where greenwashing talking points literally backfire using dark comedy to demolish Big Ag's credibility.
On the balance of humour and urgency, the directing duo says:
“The intersection of satirical wit and darker, more urgent underlying narrative is always something that appeals to our creative tendencies. Humour (and farts?) are such a valuable disarming tool in earning your viewer’s attention and trust.
The skill is then in gradually provoking a deeper thought process or question on the serious issue at hand…in this instance saving the world from catastrophic climate change and ecological collapse. No pressure."
