Jorik Dozy aboard the OceanXplorer

Jorik spent a week on the world's most advanced ocean research vessel alongside a bunch of scientists, immersive media artists and AI specialists.

Jorik Dozy had the incredibly unique opportunity to spent time on board the world's most advanced ocean exploration vessel: the OceanXplorer. He spent a week sailing from Singapore to Hong Kong alongside a variety of technicians, AI specialists, immersive media artists and scientists.

Aboard the vessel, the group came together and explored new ways to bring ocean science closer to people, translating data, discoveries and far-away ecosystems into experiences the public can feel and understand.

On the experience, Jorik says:

"The ocean covers 70% of our planet, regulates the climate, and feeds billions of people. Yet the responsibility to protect it extends far beyond marine science alone. OceanX brings together art, education and science to maximize their impact and together we looked at how storytelling, immersive media and technology can strengthen the connection between science, policy and the wider public."
